You should redefine your idea of wealth in 2021

Since the 2020 pandemic started, more Americans pursued alternative sources of wealth than ever before. From day trading, to driving for Uber Eats, and even growing your own food, modern Americans are flexing their resilience once again.

It’s about time the world gets back to basics and discovers how to remain independent in times of crisis. Some experts recommend saving as much money as possible, but who knows how valuable traditional currency will be in 5 years.

Other experts are certain the government will continue to provide bail outs and stimulus packages. Considering the curve-balls that continue to hit the food & ag industry, though, inflation and lack of harvest workers will bring a special kind of twist to this upcoming years’ produce prices.

As the founder of The Grow Network, I’ve inspired thousands of people for over a decade to get home grown food on every table. In my recent media interviews, I’ve even gone as far to say that “growing your own food is like printing your own money”. How else can you improve your pantry storage, finances, and mental health all at the same time?

Considering all of my recent projects and alternative lifestyle, there’s no telling where I might travel to, but one thing remains the same for me:

I am always growing my own food.

Even in crazy situations… maybe I’m onto something? And I’ve always had what I needed no matter where I go — why? Because I’m wealthy. Maybe I’m not the wealth you think of. No, I’m not wealthy like Bill Gates, Donald Trump, or Arabian Royalty. I am wealthy because:

My groceries are produced in my backyard, on my balcony or patio, and in the forest. My food subscriptions, my healthcare bill, and therapy costs are practically zero. Plus, I have more energy than 95% of people my age.

Think about the concept of wealth for a minute. When you’re 50+, you should have money saved, passive income flowing, and emergency funds ready to be considered slightly rich or wealthy. I took it a step further and wanted great health too.

I survived Puerto Rico through the 2020 earthquakes and COVID-19 pandemic. And while I’m a legal Puerto Rican citizen, I don’t have a permanent home on the island yet.

So even when I signed up for an Airbnb labeled as a “garden house” that didn’t have a garden, I had to get creative and find ways to grow food without a yard. I made a few videos to show the best ways to get started growing without a yard.

I’m the author of several books, but I’m best-known for “Grow Your Own Groceries” video series, which is used by more than 500,000 homesteaders, survivalists, universities, and missionary organizations around the world.
